Who Cares for the Carer
Winner of Silver Award, BMA Film Competition
In partnership with the local health authority we organised a conference for carers to encourage them to tell us what they needed. As a result we produced this DVD designed to make health professionals aware of carers and their needs. (Click the image above to watch the introduction.)
The DVD (film) is 23 minutes long, it is in a flexible format which can be interrupted to highlight specific training or discussion points.
Filmed in their own homes as they go about their daily tasks, four carers, aged from eight to eighty, describe their problems, how they cope and how they have been helped, including examples of respite care and support groups.
Although originally made to help people involved in primary care plan their strategies to recognise and meet carers' needs, the striking descriptions of their lives can be used in a variety of situations where it is essential to raise awareness. These include training and education of medical, social and voluntary workers. The DVD can also be used to promote discussion in carers' support groups and other community organisations.
Produced by Phil Davis, Creative Films Ltd.
The DVD is available to order at a cost of £5 per copy by contacting us here
